Cosmetic Solutions

Individuals seek cosmetic dentistry for a variety of reasons. Some simply want to look younger, and cosmetic dentistry is like a dental face lift that can quickly restore the natural beauty of your teeth and face. Other individuals have had unattractive teeth their whole lives and have always been self-conscious as a result. They will rarely smile, which can often hide a warm side of their personality. Modern dentistry offers a wide variety of treatment options for people seeking to enhance their smile.

Cosmetic dentistry does not just create beautiful smiles and straight, white, front teeth. Cosmetic dentistry applies the most recently developed dental materials and methods to minimize damage to tooth structure and to recreate the properties native to teeth. New materials have similar physical properties to your natural teeth, as well as the same optical characteristics. Once they are "bonded" to your teeth - not just cemented - with the best bonding agents available, they will be undetectable. They will look and feel like real teeth, even in the back of your mouth. They can assume the same functions as your natural teeth.

Smile Design

A newly designed smile is truly a work of art. The term "smile design" applies to the enhancement of a smile using a combination of methods. A patient's eyes, lip line, coloring, gum tissue contouring and face are all considered when a new smile is being designed. Tooth size, crooked teeth and aged dentistry are evaluated prior to any new design. Our goal is to redesign your smile so that it fits you, is beautiful, strong and natural looking. We will create a smile especially for you that will make you smile for years to come!

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are the most conservative aesthetic restorations available in dentistry today. A thin layer of the front of the tooth is removed to allow porcelain to be bonded to the tooth without making it any thicker. The veneer covers dark or yellow teeth, fills unsightly gaps, lengthens short or stubby teeth and straightens crooked teeth. Veneers are a lasting solution. The veneers are attached to the teeth using the most advanced methods of bonding principles. The end result is a strong, functional, natural-looking and beautiful smile!

Full Mouth Rehabilitation

Do you experience frequent headaches or migraines? Do you have pain in your face, jaw, neck, or shoulders? Are your teeth loose, chipped, or cracked? Do you experience numbness in your fingers, ringing in your ears, or vertigo? Does your jaw pop or click when you chew or talk? Then you may be a candidate for full mouth rehabilitation.

Full Mouth Rehabilitation enhances the appearance of the smile and corrects imperfections in bite position. Chipped, short, worn-down teeth can be repaired and restored with full mouth rehabilitation. Combining the art of cosmetic dentistry with the technology of neuromuscular dentistry, full mouth rehabilitation allows you to finally have a smile that is both beautiful and comfortable.

The technique of neuromuscular dentistry starts with measuring the position of your jaw and determining its ideal position. Through stimulation using a TENS unit, we can find the most relaxed position of your jaw for comfort and aesthetics. Stimulation and relaxation of the jaw muscles using Tens can be quite helpful. The Tens is a low level electrical impulse machine that exercises the jaw muscles and releases lactic acid built up from overusing muscles in the wrong position.

This may be combined with the use of an orthotic to gently move the jaw into its normal position. An orthotic is an appliance that helps move or build your bite to a relaxed resting position. You may need to wear the appliance for several weeks to several months, during which time your jaw will begin to drop naturally into its most comfortable position.

Full mouth rehabilitation treatment also includes the application of a full set of crowns and other restorations, such as veneers. This portion of the rehabilitation can begin when your jaw has finally come to its ideal position. The use of porcelain crowns and veneers raises your teeth into the optimal position and keeps them there. This not only completely relieves the painful symptoms of malocclusion but it also restores the appearance of your teeth to their beautiful and youthful condition.

The time required to complete a Full Mouth Rehabilitation can range from as little as two visits to six or more depending on the complexity of the case and the desired result.

Gum Re-Contouring

“Gummy smiles” are a very common problem, caused by overgrowth of the gum tissue that covers the teeth. This unsightly occurrence can be caused by a variety of things, including heredity, health conditions and even the use of many common high blood pressure medications. A gummy smile will dominate the mouth, making the teeth seem almost secondary in appearance. We use a laser to change the look and shape of the gums. The laser actually vaporizes unnecessary and unsightly tissue with unmatched accuracy and effectiveness. What is left in the place of the overgrown gums is a healthy-looking, well-proportioned smile. The process takes only a few minutes for most, and there is usually very little discomfort.

Bonding

Chipped, discolored or gapped teeth can be embarrassing and can affect your self-esteem and confidence. Bonding is the perfect solution. Inexpensive and conservative, bonding uses a tooth-colored composite material to restore teeth and enhance smiles. The composite is placed on the tooth, then shaped and molded to achieve the desired results, including: whitening, closing spaces between teeth, making teeth appear straighter and repairing chips and cracks. The material is then hardened and polished, creating a natural appearance. The best use for bonding is to repair slightly chipped, discolored or misaligned teeth. The advantages of bonding is that it is inexpensive and an ultra-conservative way to restore a tooth.

Inlays and Onlays

Metal fillings (silver amalgum) are not your healthiest choice for restorations, often expanding and contracting with temperature changes. This can cause cracking or allow bacteria to affect further decay. Onlays and inlays make it possible to replace unsightly silver fillings with beautiful and healthy tooth colored restorations. We’ll design them to match your teeth, reviving your natural strength, wear, and function. An inlay is done when the tooth structure replaced is within the cusp tips of the tooth. If the damage is more extensive and the new structure covers the entire chewing surface, it is an onlay. With new materials such as pure porcelain, it really is finally possible to beautifully repair and restore the normal structure of your smile. Inlays and onlays are custom made in a laboratory and bonded to the surface of the damaged tooth. Because the repair is placed on the tooth, the tooth is not weakened or susceptible to the shifts and contractions that metal fillings can cause. This innovative approach makes it possible to make a stronger repair – able to withstand up to 75% more chewing force – while removing less tooth structure. Both inlays and onlays may require more than one visit. During your first visit, we gently remove the damage and decay. We then make an impression of your damaged tooth so that an exact, custom fitted, and often custom color matched, restoration can be made. A temporary restoration is applied, and your impression is sent to the lab for the creation of your specially made repair. When your restoration is completed, you can return for the fitting and application. You’ll be surprised at how good this type of restoration looks and feels. It is virtually indistinguishable from your own teeth and will last through years of normal use. Eat and drink what you’d like with no fear of the kind of chipping, cracking or even leakage regularly experienced with metal amalgam fillings.

If you already have mercury amalgam fillings or repairs, and are concerned about the health risks or tired of how dark and old metal fillings can make your smile look, inlays and onlays may be a solution for you. We can safely remove them and replace them with a beautiful, healthy, and natural looking inlay or onlay.

Invisalign

If you are an adult who has always wanted straighter teeth but felt the look of a full-metal mouth was for kids and couldn’t contemplate undergoing a major lifestyle change, don’t give up hope: Invisalign invisible aligners are the solution for you. These days, adults make up almost half of the orthodontic patients who want to get the smile they always dreamed of. Recent studies show that a great smile can not only improve your personal life, it can affect your career as well. A bright healthy smile makes you seem friendlier and more approachable. And a beautiful smile is a healthy smile. Crooked, misaligned teeth can not only affect your looks but also your health and comfort. Misaligned teeth can cause headaches and jaw pain, and when teeth are crooked, plaque build-up may increase, leading to periodontal disease and gum disease. Improper bite also means you can't chew food properly, which can sometimes lead to gastrointestinal problems. Invisalign can give you the healthy smile you have always wished you could have without the discomfort of metal or the lifestyle change they demand. Instead, Invisalign works through a series of comfortable aligners that no one will notice you're wearing. These clear, medical-grade plastic aligners function just like traditional braces in that they use controlled force to guide your teeth into proper alignment. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move–little by little, week by week–until they have reached their ideal position.

Our experienced and highly trained staff work with three dimensional computer imaging to create these virtually invisible aligners designed just for you and each step of your progress.

And with Invisalign you can live just as you want to: eat what you want, brush and floss your teeth as usual, even take the aligners out for special occasion or a date!

Forget traditional metal braces. Embrace life with Invisalign. So subtle, so comfortable, they are like contact lenses for your smile!
